A large number of people in the Event Industry believe that the existing health and safety legislation in the UK is not relevant to them or what they do. These are intelligent, competent and professional people in everything else they do, but not when it comes to health and safety.

These people are not deliberately unsafe. However, by neglecting this area they are not only failing in their legal obligations but actively making the industry unsafe. We all need to be aware of previous experiences to avoid making the same mistakes.

Health & Safety legislation in this country is well thought out, easy to follow and easy to apply. However, because most people are unaware of the relevant information they become confused and intimidated.

The UK Event and Entertainment industry is a self-regulated industry sector and it is in all our interests to keep it that way.
